I cleaned the coop today and found 4 eggs. I was not expecting eggs for some time. So I fed them a treat of watermelon. I also found out they are Red Star chickens that are good production hens. So glad to find that out. They are very pretty but they like to peck your toes. Rough with sandels on this summer but that should improve wearing tennis shoes this fall. They do well in summer heat and winter cold. That will be good since we have both extremes here. I am still surprised that they started laying eggs at barely 5 months old.
